The first meeting of the London-based Gareth Mitchell and Stephen Giust takes place in 2005, during the UK tour of the collective Rediffusion ( Andrej Bako and Karen O'Brien , Mitchell, Giust and a date also Andy Diagram . ..).
At that time, the fire established between the musicians was to die purely electronic, the parties to a pleasant minimal-techno.
In this live recording (2007), the electronic noise gives way to vision.
Guitar, vocals and drums.
's original compositions by Mitchell absorb (not without bruises ...), running rough and free of Giust.
's electric indulges in a cool sound and melancholy, pierced by flashes of feedback.
Mitchell renunciation of all the digital treatment usually reserved for your instrument. Hidden In Vain and her distraught air, between Davis and elegance of John Martyn (the voice, the chord progression ...), everything collapses around downed bustle black of Giust ( Tony Williams and Sonny Murray ? Difficult choice ...). remains a final vibration in the air. Speechless the public. ... So Whispers Sweep Burnished Terrain , succumbs to the bite of distortion and feedback, the voice howls and snaps loop narcotic Giust continues to pound like a madman, it comes out weird harmony and Cubist; parties repetitive lines of Arthur Russell . Songs impromptu show that for an instant and then retract, resulting in the void left their passage, you can imagine the beauty. Sorry (not just) for the poor recording quality. But it is a stumbling block to which it survives. At home Bristle always pulls bell'aria!

Il primo incontro fra il londinese Gareth Mitchell e Stefano Giust, avviene nel 2005, in occasione del tour inglese del collettivo Rediffusion (Andrej Bako e Karen O'Brien, Mitchell, Giust ed in una data anche Andy Diagram...).
In quell'occasione, il tiro instauratosi fra i musicisti era di stampo prettamente elettronico, dalle parti di una piacevolissima minimal-techno.
In questa registrazione live (del 2007), l'elettronica lascia spazio alla visione acustica.
Chitarra, voce e batteria.
Le composizioni originali di Mitchell assorbono (non senza lividi...), l'esecuzione ruvida e free di Giust.
L'elettrica si abbandona ad un suono cool e malinconico, squarciato da lampi di feedback.
Mitchell rinuncia del tutto al trattamento digitale usualmente riservato al proprio strumento.
Hidden In Vain e la sua aria stralunata, fra Davis e l'eleganza di John Martyn (la voce, la progressione degli accordi...), intorno tutto crolla abbattuto dalla frenesia black di Giust (Tony Williams o Sonny Murray? Difficile scelta...).
Resta una vibrazione finale nell'aria.
Ammutolito il pubblico.
..., So Whispers Sweep Burnished Terrain, soccombe al morso della distorsione e del feedback, la voce ulula e si incastra in loop narcotico, Giust continua a pestare come un dannato, ne viene fuori un'armonia bizzarra e cubista; dalle parti delle linee ripetitive di Arthur Russell.
Canzoni estemporanee, che si mostrano per un'istante e poi si ritraggono, nel vuoto conseguente lasciato dal loro passaggio; si intuisce la bellezza.
Dispiace (non poco), per la qualità di registrazione scadente.
Ma è un intoppo, al quale si sopravvive.
In casa Setola tira sempre bell'aria!
