"I think than Philtrum, an album of 2006 by Gareth Mitchell, is an important disc, as well as wonderful! His work on guitar, thoroughly subservient to the particle manipulation and reconstruction of sounds and rhythmic cells, has created a unique work, projected as conceptual universe in a new way, with strong emotions. The music is organized exclusively with his own guitar samples, where the instrument is often completely transfigured, bent to the needs of the author that it draws all the material of the composition, material that is focused on the sounds of the extreme instrument. The result is a really modern design, rigorous, lucid with brilliant ideas, immersed in a world of communication that is grounded in the most advanced electronic music, where surreal melodies and something near minimal techno structures, giving to the listener, food for his thought. I do not like to think of today's music masterpieces as possible, outdated concept and heritage of the past, but if there is a masterpiece of research, this is certainly Philtrum."

"Penso che Philtrum, un disco del 2006 di Gareth Mitchell, sia un disco importante, oltre che bellissimo! Il suo lavoro sulla chitarra, minuziosamente asservita alla manipolazione e ricomposizione particellare di suoni e cellule ritmiche, ha creato un lavoro unico, proiettato come è in un universo concettuale inedito e pregno di emozione. La musica è organizzata esclusivamente con i propri campionamenti chitarristici, dove lo strumento è spesso completamente trasfigurato, piegato alle esigenze dell'autore che da esso ricava tutto il materiale compositivo, materiale che è focalizzato sui suoni estremi dello strumento.
